In 1986 Valencia Lancaster (1898 – 1996) gave her sixth cousin, my father Rafe de Crespigny, a family Bible that had been in the Champion de Crespigny since 1880.
The Bible had been presented in July 1880 to Georgiana Louisa Margaret (McKerrell) Champion de Crespigny (1850 – 1935), wife of Sir Claude the 4th baronet, by her sister, Letitia. At the time Georgiana was pregnant with her sixth child, Claude Philip, born on 3 August 1880.

Claude de Crespigny and Georgiana had nine children. All their sons were named Claude.
In the Bible on pages set aside for the purpose between the Old and New Testaments, Georgiana, Lady de Crespigny, had added genealogical information about the family, with names and dates of her children and their christenings, godparents, and marriages. Information about deaths and burials was later inserted, probably by her son Claude Philip; some perhaps by Valencia Lancaster, daughter of Cicely and granddaughter of Sir Claude and Georgiana.
In 1928 on page four Georgiana comments sadly that
I have now lost 3 sons, Claude, Vierville & Norman.
Georgiana died 16 February 1935. Her husband died a few months later on 26 June.

Family bibles are such treasures! I imagine researching multiple Claude's can present its difficulties at times? Or are they always referred to be their middle names in documents etc?
